Writing a non-fiction book on the international dynamics of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) is not a task to be tackled alone. In developing my upcoming book, "Across Borders, Across Classes: Real Stories and Global Analysis of Indonesian Migrant Workers from Indonesia’s Sociology Study in Hong Kong," I have partnered with a solid team of contributors to support the field data collection process.
This step ensures that the book rests on an objective, accurate, and academically accountable foundation.
Authentic Synergy Rooted in Real Data
From the initial planning stages, our main commitment has been crystal clear: this book is built entirely on real data, authentic experiences, and objective facts, rather than mere assumptions or personal opinions.
This research process requires close cooperation. The contributors assist with various technical aspects in the field, ranging from distributing questionnaires and gathering grassroots voices to enriching precise sociological terminology. This collaboration ensures that the narrative genuinely and honestly represents real-world realities.
Stepping Away from Sensationalism, Moving Toward Constructive Space
Amidst the rapid flow of information, issues surrounding migrant workers often get trapped in a vortex of sensationalism, provocative narratives, or incitement that breeds prejudice. Through this book, we are taking the opposite direction.
Across Borders, Across Classes is by no means a space to spread negative sentiments. Instead, the book is presented as a shared mirror—an educational tool for mutual correction, wise understanding of social class realities, and finding constructive solutions. The real data we gather is processed to broaden readers' perspectives, bridge misunderstandings, and build an enlightening collective awareness.
Upholding Professional Collaboration
A healthy partnership must be built on transparency, clear division of roles, and fair ethical protections for all parties involved. Our entire collaborative process is managed professionally through written agreements that safeguard respondent confidentiality, outline contribution scopes, and establish fair copyright boundaries.
Through this collaborative synergy, I am optimistic that Across Borders, Across Classes will not only serve as a substantial literary work but also deliver a meaningful, constructive contribution to the study of migration sociology and the wider public.
